Ladies Tweed Country Jackets
How to care for Tweed Jackets?
Tweed is a very durable material, but a tweed jacket must never be washed in a washing machine. Due to the fibres of the wool they must be dry cleaned.
What to wear with tweed jackets for Ladies?
A tweed jacket is surprisingly versatile considering it is ordinarily quite a formal garment. However, the classic British look would be to wear a gently fitted shirt and a pair of corduroy jeans. Liberty shirts can bring a range of colours and patterns to the table, that draw the eye, and a pair of well fitting jeans or corduroy trousers would complete the look.
For some of our Cordings tweed jackets, there are matching waistcoats and 'looser' fit matching tweed trousers for the 3-piece suit.
Do tweed jackets have different fits?
Yes, there are a handful of different fits that can change the look and feel of the outfit. Hacking Jackets have evolved from the equestrian world, in which the rider would need a jacket that was smart but also practical to wear on horseback. Therefore these have a centre back vent (for spreading over a saddle) and are more fitted at the waist.
Chelsea Jackets are more urban and offer a more contemporary fit. Shorter on the body with a neat waist. The Classic Three Button is the more traditional fit and is much longer on the body. They appear more structured and are often crafted from heavier tweed.
