Camel Beaufort Overcoat

Based on one of Eric Clapton's favourite coats, The Beaufort takes its cue from the smart single-breasted overcoats favoured by English gentlemen since the Victorian era; the kind worn over a suit on the walk to the office, or thrown on for a winter weekend in the country. Cut in a vicuña shade from 100% wool woven for us by Loro Piana, with a clean three-button front, notch lapel and relaxed shoulder line, it has the quiet authority of a coat designed to be worn for decades, not seasons. A contemporary take on the style, it sits shorter than our covert coats, making it a practical choice for commuting.

The details reward a closer look. Slanted flap pockets with Alcantara jets and an inverted pleated vent with button keep the silhouette sharp whether standing or seated, while a velvet undercollar and decorative edge stitching along the lapel add quiet points of contrast few will notice but everyone will feel.

Woven using Loro Piana's Rain System, the cloth carries a hydrophobic finish that causes water to bead and roll away, offering genuine protection from the elements while retaining the natural softness and breathability of fine wool.
